Overview of Social Studies Class

I really enjoyed Social Studies with Mr. Vendramin because he was funny and he had a fun way of doing work. There were a couple of things I didn't like about social. For example , I didn't like that Mr. Vendramin would give us many assignments all at once. I didn't like that because I never knew which one was more important and which one I should finish first. It was a little stressful because all the assignments pilled up on me and I had other homework to do, plus most of the work was on iPads. I liked how he used clickers to take tests because it was more fun than doing it on paper. I still think he should give us more time to answer the questions on the clickers. Well, it was a great year and I learned new things and made new friends. I am still hoping to come back to visit Mr. D because he was a great teacher.

Roman Raft Thoughts

When we did the Roman Raft, I thought it was going to be easy because they are similar to the Greeks and I knew lots about them. Turns out it was, but we were having trouble looking for recipe that used only ingredients that Romans could use. I really enjoyed our topic, which was a cooking show, because it was really fun and we learned lots of things. Romans enjoyed drinking wine, but they wouldn't abuse it like some people do today. Also, they ate lots of grapes because that's how they made their wine. Another thing I learned was that they worshiped salt. It was very rare in their time, so when they had the chance to get some they would be very careful with it. My favorite group RAFT was Adrien's because they showed us the mind-craft model of Rome. He's also very loud and always seems like he enjoys what he's teaching us.

Evaluation

When our teacher gives us back our evaluation forms, I like to think about how I can do better next time. I always like to have a reason to make myself better. I think evaluation is a good thing because it lets people know how good or bad they did. Many people don't care about evaluation and that's okay because we all have different opinions on things. I just think it's a great thing because I like to have something to work for.

First Nation Presentation

On Tuesday our class was lucky to have Mr. Benjoe come to our class and talk about first nations. I thought it was interesting that his real last name was really long and different from his new one. The poeple changed his last name twice until they finally came up with Benjoe. He showed us this drawing that he drew when he was younger. His parents were sort of "bad people" like they did drug and stuff. He didn't want to be like his parents so he tried to find something he loved and enjoyed. He found that painting was something he found jubilant. I know his daughter, who is amazing. Well this is most of the things I found interesting about his presentation.

Presentation

The presentation went okay. I would say we could have put some more effort into our work. We did fool around a couple of times, but in the end the presentation was great. Our process was slow because we finished out prezi at the last minute. Two of our group memebers weren't able to present it with up, so Sierra and I had to present the prezi on our own. We learned a lot of things though. We learned the reason why they wore sandles and their shawls. I learned that the weather there wasn't just hot, but that it would also snow in some places and rain. Overall, our prezi went okay. I would say the best prezi was Edoso's and Adrien's because they were loud and funny. They did not make me want to fall asleep. I just found it very interesting.

Geological Time

I learned that Geological Time can be interesting at some points.  For example, about how long it took for humans to get here and how they evolved. Also, I thought it was cool how the earth keeps changing as the years pass, and will continue to as they years go by. I also learned about how the plates tectonics came about. What I thought was the most interesting, was learning about how humans got into this world!

Does God Exist

I think that God does exist. I am not a strong believer, but my mom and grandparents are so i guess thats why i am. I believe in miracles, because i think God never wants to see anything bad happen to you. I think believing in God is awesome because youre believing in something that cant have proof, and you just have to trust that people back then are telling the truth. If you believe in God i think that it brings people closer together. Thats just my opinion for now im just gonna say that God does exist because i was raised believing in God.

My first impressions.

When I first walked into room 016, I was thinking Ughhh why social studies? I just don't like social or anything that involves learning what happened in the past, but some things I do like. In grade 7, my history teacher was so boring, maybe that's why I strongly dislike history. I would learn about all these dates and about Louis the 16 or Marie Antoinette. Well that's what I learned in the states. In grade 8 though, my first year in Canada, my teacher still made social studies seem boring. Probably with a different teacher social studies might not be as mad as it was before. I love technology, but I don't like the fact that people might not get lots of jobs because of technology. Also, I don't like how it's slow sometimes. I hope to at least like social studies a little bit.
